Pasourtidis: Concerns in Legal Committee Regarding Cameras on Police Uniforms and Vehicles

The Parliamentary Legal Committee has begun discussing the bill allowing the placement of cameras on police uniforms and vehicles. AKEL MP Andreas Pasourtidis expressed concerns about the potential for abuse of the material collected by the cameras and the protection of human rights. He emphasized the need to ensure access to the material, protect it from misuse, and preserve it for the purposes of the legislation, including the protection of citizens. Mr. Pasourtidis requested answers from the Ministry of Justice and Public Order to ensure that the new tool will enhance policing and citizen protection without violating human rights.
