Transport Minister to Present Study for Larnaca Port

The Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeades, will present the study for the port of Larnaca to the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works tomorrow. During the briefing, he will present the options arising from the study and refer to the request for the revival of the Kition Contract. The Minister stated that the study was prepared by the Sovereign Wealth Fund and their Dutch consultants, in collaboration with the Transport Committee. The government is approaching the issue with an open mind, seeking to consider all possible options within the framework of legality. It has requested the assistance of the Legal Service to ensure that the decisions taken are in accordance with the law. In addition, the Minister informed the Committee about the progress of major road projects across Cyprus, emphasizing that they are proceeding with the implementation of the projects that had been presented to the Parliament in October. He also referred to the changes being promoted in the speed camera system. Regarding the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous and Limassol-Saitta motorways, the Minister stated that two sections of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous motorway are being considered, while for the section from Polis Chrysochous to Stroumpi, the Public Works Department has completed its studies, awaiting the resolution of environmental issues.
