President Receives Annual Report from Auditor General

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, received the annual report of the Audit Office for the period October 2024 - October 2025 from the Auditor General, Andreas Papakonstantinou. The report includes a review of the Audit Office’s findings and recommendations for improving transparency and accountability in the public sector. Mr. Papakonstantinou noted that 2025 was a significant year for the Audit Office, as the reform of the service was approved by Parliament. He emphasized that this year’s report includes an insert with the most important reports of the Audit Office from April 2025 onwards, providing a concise overview of the key findings. President Christodoulides expressed his satisfaction with the important work of the Audit Office and its contribution to the effort to improve governance. He also announced that an evaluation of the operation of the Audit Office would be conducted and further ways to modernize the service would be considered. The government views the Audit Office as a partner and supports its efforts to strengthen the network of protection in public decision-making. Cooperation between the executive branch and the Audit Office is considered critical for promoting efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the public sector.
