Deadline Extension for Large Investment Scheme and New Farmer Installation

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, in collaboration with the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (KOAP), has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting applications for the Large Investment Scheme and the Intervention for the 'Establishment of New Farmers' until March 31, 2026. This decision was made following requests from stakeholders in the primary sector. Initially, the deadline expired on January 30, but more time is now being given for the preparation and submission of applications. The two measures have a total budget of €67.5 million, and applications are submitted exclusively through the KOAP website, by accredited advisory bodies approved by the Department of Agriculture. The new Large Investment Scheme includes ten significant cuts and interventions, designed to meet the needs of the primary sector. The Intervention for the 'First Establishment of New Farmers' aims to address the aging of the agricultural workforce and encourage the creation of sustainable agricultural holdings by young farmers. The Ministry emphasizes that the scheme is the result of extensive consultation with agricultural organizations and production bodies, with the aim of responding to the real needs of the sector and modern challenges. In addition, there are facilitations in licensing and acceleration of procedures, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and other services. A prerequisite for submitting an application is registration in the Register of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings.
