Paleo-Calendar Priests Conducted Blessing Ceremony at Farms Amidst Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak

Priests from the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians (Paleo-Calendarists) conducted a blessing ceremony at farms amidst the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, raising concerns about potential disease spread. The Minister of Agriculture has requested the Police to investigate the circumstances under which the priests gained access to the livestock farms. The priests, specifically the Metropolitan of Kition and the priests Fr. Kyriakos and Fr. Chrysostomos, performed a blessing at the farms and spoke with the farmers. The Holy Metropolis of GOC Kition posted photos from the visit. This move came at a time when strict biosecurity measures are in place to limit the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, such as fencing farms, disinfecting vehicles and people, and checking the origin of feed. The Minister of Agriculture believes that the priests' entry into the farms may have violated safety measures and endangered the health of animals and the region's economy.
