Education & Labor Market in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) has entered our daily lives and is impacting education, the labor market, and society. The discussion should not focus on whether AI is good or bad, but on how it will be used to enhance education and prepare citizens for the new demands of the labor market. In the past, the search for knowledge required time and research. Today, AI provides immediate answers, but this carries the risk of degrading critical thinking and research skills. AI should support learning, not replace it. Automation is changing the labor market, limiting jobs based on repetitive processes and creating new needs in areas such as data analysis, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. Countries like Germany and Finland are investing in technical education and connecting universities with industry. Cyprus must adapt its education system, invest in future skills, and strengthen career guidance. The role of teachers remains critical, as AI can support teaching, but cannot replace the pedagogical value of human contact and the development of critical thinking.
