Global Interpol Operation Protects Over 4,400 Human Trafficking Victims – Checks and Arrests in Cyprus

INTERPOL has successfully concluded its global operation, Liberterra III, which took place from November 10th to 21st, 2025, with the participation of 119 countries, including Cyprus. During the operation, 4,414 potential victims of human trafficking and 12,992 irregular migrants were identified and protected. Simultaneously, 3,744 suspects were arrested, with over 1,800 being charged with human and migrant trafficking offenses. More than 14,000 police officers were mobilized for the operation, conducting patrols, targeted checks, and strengthening border controls. In addition, over 720 new investigations were launched, many of which are ongoing. This operation highlights the strong international cooperation in combating human trafficking and illegal migration. INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza emphasized that criminal networks are evolving and exploiting new routes and digital platforms. Identifying these patterns is crucial for prevention and victim protection. Operation Liberterra III represents a significant step in this direction. The Cyprus Police actively participated in the operation, conducting checks at Cypriot airports and along the green line. During the checks, 55 irregular migrants were identified, and three individuals attempting to enter Cyprus with false travel documents were arrested.
