Paphos: Development Applications at a Standstill Due to Compensatory Measures

The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBΕ Paphos) reports a deadlock in dozens of development applications due to compensatory measures. Despite assurances from the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Urban Planning, the issue remains unresolved. The Chamber points out that the imposition of compensatory measures was done without a uniform practice and, in some cases, without the creation of the prescribed fund. It also reports cases of payments made through third parties, which are under investigation. A significant number of applications remain pending for over three years, hindering investments and affecting the local economy. The EBE Paphos calls for a review of pending applications, suspension or removal of disputed terms, and acceleration of the licensing process, warning of further action if the issue is not resolved.
