Cyprus: Developments Expected This Week Regarding Missing Explosives

The Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas, announced that developments are expected this week regarding the report on the 13.6 kilograms of explosives that went missing from Kalo Chorio. The statement was made after a meeting with the President of the Republic and members of the Cyprus Defence Industry Council, where the Minister described the future of the defence industry in Cyprus as excellent. Mr. Palmas clarified that the Ministry of Defence's investigation concerns the internal inquiry, while the criminal aspect of the case falls under the jurisdiction of the Police. Currently, there are no new announcements regarding the criminal investigation. The report of the Ministry of Defence is expected to be completed within the next few days, and the case has attracted significant interest due to the seriousness of the loss of explosive materials. The government appears to be prioritizing a full investigation into the circumstances under which the explosives disappeared, as well as taking the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
