Cyprus is seeking to strengthen its geostrategic role by capitalizing on developments in the region and collaborations with countries such as Israel, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of Cyprus's participation in initiatives such as IMEC (India-Middle East-Europe Corridor), which aims to enhance trade between Asia and Europe. Particular emphasis is placed on the electricity interconnection with Greece and Israel, as well as the development of the GSI (Great Sea Interconnector), a project that will connect Cyprus to the Middle East and Europe. The President referred to discussions with Israel on the implementation of these projects. Energy and water are also important areas of cooperation, with Cyprus preparing to sign agreements with the UAE. The goal is to involve companies from the UAE in the Cypriot EEZ and broader cooperation in the energy sector. President Christodoulides stated that the government is seeking the completion of the project in Vasilikos as soon as possible, as well as the strengthening of energy infrastructure in Cyprus.
