Outrage from Disability Organizations over Pheidippides Panayiotou's Remarks

The Cyprus Association of Civil Engineering and Building Services (KYSOA) strongly condemns the remarks made by MEP Pheidippides Panayiotou about people with intellectual disabilities during a podcast appearance. The organization describes the statements as outdated and offensive, undermining the fight for inclusion and respect for human rights. KYSOA emphasizes that elected officials must demonstrate a high level of political discourse and that inexperience cannot justify such statements. Furthermore, the organization calls on Mr. Panayiotou to take lessons in respecting diversity and to study the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. KYSOA expresses its disappointment and rejects the excuse that Mr. Panayiotou is "young and still learning."
