Investigation into Turkish Cypriot Properties in Paphos Municipality to Conclude Soon

The Turkish Cypriot Properties Management Service is expected to complete its investigation into cases of leasing Turkish Cypriot properties to the Paphos Municipality before March 25th. The findings will be submitted to the Minister of Interior, Constantinos Ioannou, in two weeks. According to information, the audits have not revealed significant irregularities, beyond cases of unilateral change of purpose of use. It was found that in some cases the purpose of granting properties changed, without any evidence of profiteering. Four to five additional cases remain under investigation, following relevant complaints. The audits show that in the vast majority of files, the legal procedures have been followed. The remaining cases concern properties claimed by refugees, but the Committee deemed that granting them to the Municipality was more beneficial. The Turkish Cypriot Properties Management Service is examining individual parameters of each case, in order to form its final findings. The investigation concerns ensuring the proper management of Turkish Cypriot properties and compliance with relevant legislation.
