Successful Auction of 20th Century Cypriot Art

The Cypria Auctions' “20th Century Cypriot Art” auction was successfully completed, attracting significant interest from Cypriot and international collectors. Works by Pol Georgiou were particularly in demand, with “The Boat” selling for €43,897 and “Cypriot Archaic Figurine” for €15,050. Additionally, Andreas Charalambides' “Young Lady with a Bouquet” sold for €20,067, setting a new auction record for the artist. Stable results were also achieved for works by Stas Parashos and Giorgos Skoteinos, while there was activity in works by other Cypriot artists. Particular interest was also shown in works by Stylianos Atteslis, with several exceeding their estimates. In addition to the artworks, there was interest in rare editions, such as the first edition of Giovanni Mariti on Commandaria, which sold for €6,071, and “Travels of Ali Bey” by Ali Bey El-Abbassi, which reached €4,856. The results of the auction confirm the interest in 20th-century Cypriot art, especially for works that combine a strong identity with an affordable price.
