Completion of Investigation into Lease of Turkish Cypriot Properties in Paphos Before 25/3

The Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service is expected to complete its investigation into cases of leasing Turkish Cypriot properties to the Municipality of Paphos before March 25th. The findings will be submitted to the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, in two weeks. The investigations concern four to five files, with the majority showing no irregularities, beyond cases of changes in the purpose of use. In some cases, a change in the purpose of property allocation was found, such as the use of green space as a parking lot, but no profiteering has been identified. Four to five additional cases remain under investigation following complaints. Furthermore, cases where the properties were claimed by refugees are being examined, but the Committee deemed that granting them to the Municipality was more beneficial. Separately, the case of the assault on the wife of the suspended Mayor of Paphos appears unlikely to proceed to court due to a lack of evidence.
