OKYpY Reduces Energy Costs with Solar Park at Nicosia General Hospital

The Cyprus Public Health Services Organization (OKYpY) announced a substantial reduction in energy costs and carbon dioxide emissions through the installation of a photovoltaic park at Nicosia General Hospital. The park, with a total capacity of 1.3 MWp and a cost of €1.8 million, represents a significant step in the energy upgrade of the hospital. The project was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan and includes the installation of photovoltaic panels on metal shading structures, providing protection for parked vehicles. Modern LED lighting was also installed to enhance safety. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) assisted in the implementation of the project, providing advisory services and supervising the integration of the park into the energy grid. OKYpY notes that the utilization of renewable energy sources strengthens the long-term financial sustainability of the organization and allows for the reinvestment of resources in the upgrading of healthcare services. The project is part of a broader plan for energy upgrading of OKYpY hospitals, with similar interventions planned for other public hospitals.
