OKYPY: Significant Reduction in Energy Costs with PV Park at Nicosia General Hospital

The State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) announced a significant reduction in energy costs and carbon dioxide emissions thanks to the installation of a photovoltaic park at Nicosia General Hospital. The park, with a total capacity of 1.3 MWp and a cost of €1.8 million (plus VAT), represents a significant step in the energy upgrade of Cyprus's largest hospital and is part of the organization's green transition strategy. Funding comes from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, with most of the cost covered by the relevant fund. The photovoltaic panels were installed on metal shading structures, providing protection for parked vehicles, and modern LED lighting was installed. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) contributed significantly to the project's implementation, providing consulting services and overseeing the integration of the park into the energy grid. OKYPY plans similar interventions in other public hospitals as part of a comprehensive strategy to modernize healthcare infrastructure.
