China Deploys AI-Powered Humanoid Robots as Traffic Police

China is testing humanoid robots powered by artificial intelligence for patrol and traffic regulation duties. In the city of Wuhu, the robots are giving directions to citizens, such as cyclists, and can identify violations. The Intelligent Police Unit R001 model is connected to the city's traffic light system and performs traffic control movements. The robots are equipped with high-definition cameras and a voice announcement system, operating continuously to reduce the workload of police officers. This deployment is part of China's broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into various sectors, with the market for this technology expected to reach €49.2 billion by 2030 and €123 billion by 2035.
