China Deploys Humanoid Robot Police to Patrol Streets

China is testing humanoid robot police on its streets, designed to patrol and regulate traffic around the clock. In the city of Wuhu, the robots are giving instructions to pedestrians while also being able to identify violations and issue warnings. The Intelligent Police Unit R001 model is connected to the city's traffic light system and can synchronize traffic regulation with light changes. It features high-definition cameras and a voice announcement system. The deployment of these robots is part of China's strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into various applications. China is expanding its fleet of robotic assistants, aiming to improve the safety and efficiency of policing. The market for this technology is expected to reach approximately 49.2 billion euros by 2030 and exceed 123 billion euros by 2035. The development of robots requires continuous testing in real-world conditions so they can 'learn' and adapt to societal needs.
