Priorities of the Cypriot Presidency in Transport, Tourism and Shipping

The priorities of the Cypriot Presidency in the areas of transport, shipping and tourism were presented at a meeting of the Transport and Tourism Committee (TRAN) in the European Parliament. The Presidency focuses on strengthening the competitiveness, resilience and strategic autonomy of the European Union, while maintaining openness and cooperation. In the field of transport, the Presidency will seek to achieve specific and reliable decisions on passenger rights, especially regarding air transport and multimodal travel. Emphasis will be placed on enforcing passenger rights and protecting people with disabilities or reduced mobility. In road transport, the Presidency will support the transition to a cleaner, safer and more efficient system, while maintaining a high level of road safety. The green transition will be central, with the aim of reducing pollutant emissions and promoting sustainable transport solutions. In the field of shipping, the Presidency will work to strengthen the competitiveness of the Cypriot flag and promote green shipping. In the field of tourism, emphasis will be placed on promoting sustainable tourism and strengthening the digital transition of the tourism sector.
