UNSC: Negotiations on UNFICYP at a Critical Juncture

Negotiations for the renewal of the UNFICYP mandate are at a critical juncture, with the UN Security Council scheduled to meet on Thursday. The United Kingdom and France insist on the need for a comprehensive and lasting solution to the Cyprus issue, supporting the UN's diplomatic efforts and the continued implementation of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs). Russia and China also support the UN's efforts for a solution, as outlined in the Security Council resolutions. The United States, Latvia, and Bahrain also express support for the mandate renewal and encourage dialogue between the two communities.
