Odysseus: Proposal for the creation of a separate 'Troodos Province' (VIDEO)

The President of the Jump, Odysseus Michailidis, proposed the creation of a new Troodos Province, as a radical restructuring of the administration of the mountainous Cyprus. This proposal, as he stated in a recent Podcast, goes beyond the simple creation of a Commissioner for Mountainous Areas and aims at the full autonomy of Troodos as an administrative entity. Today, the area of Troodos falls under the provinces of Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, which, according to Michailidis, leads to fragmentation of responsibilities and lack of targeted policy. The proposal provides for the establishment of a new province with its own parliamentary representation, so that the MPs of the Troodos Province are directly accountable to the citizens of the area. The purpose of the proposal is to strengthen local self-government and better address the specific needs of the mountainous Cyprus.
