Ministry of Education Prepares Guidelines for School Violence and Delinquency

The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth has prepared guidelines to support schools in managing violence and delinquency, responding to the need for assistance in this area. These guidelines compile existing policies, national strategies, circulars, and protocols for addressing these issues, aiming to facilitate the work of schools, teachers, and inform parents. According to the Director of the Pedagogical Institute, Elena Chatzikakou, the guidelines are available in each school unit in printed and electronic form. Additionally, the Ministry has created a dedicated website focused on managing violence and delinquency, where teachers and parents can find all the necessary information. The guidelines include instructions for managing school bullying, as outlined in a Ministry circular from 2020, as well as national strategies for preventing violence (2024-2028) and tackling substance abuse, implemented by the Cyprus Anti-Addiction Authority. Ms. Chatzikakou emphasized the importance of continuous information and collaboration for effectively addressing violence and delinquency in schools, as well as the need to renew hopes and efforts with every new beginning.
