Wolt Drivers in Limassol Protest, Demanding Better Pay and Workplace Safety

Wolt drivers in Limassol staged a work stoppage on Friday, protesting low wages and a lack of support from the company, particularly in relation to attacks on delivery drivers. The drivers threaten to continue the action and extend it to other cities if the company does not respond to their demands. The drivers report that their wages have been declining steadily since 2021 and that they work many hours each day. They also express concerns for their safety, as they have been subjected to harassment and physical assaults, with thefts of orders and damage to motorcycles also reported. The government has announced security measures for delivery drivers, following dozens of attacks recorded in 2024, mainly in Limassol. Police have increased patrols and implemented a registration system for immediate notification of emergency services. Wolt described the mobilization as local and limited, stating that it is in contact with the drivers to hear their concerns. The company states that it works with more than 3,000 drivers in Cyprus and has signed a collective agreement with trade unions for employees working through third-party companies.
