Police Operations Result in Arrests and Numerous Traffic Violations

The Cyprus Police conducted extensive preventative operations across the island, aiming to prevent criminal activities and enhance public safety. During these operations, eight individuals were arrested for various offenses, including drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, and outstanding arrest warrants. A total of 566 vehicles and 688 individuals were checked, with 29 premises also being inspected. A total of 351 traffic violations were reported, with 174 related to speeding. Additionally, 12 individuals were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol and 5 for driving under the influence of drugs, following relevant tests. A total of 18 vehicles were confiscated. Alcohol tests were performed on 142 drivers and drug tests on 32. The Police emphasize that these operations will continue with increased presence and targeted checks, aiming to protect citizens and ensure public order. The focus was on tackling driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as combating speeding, two significant factors contributing to road accidents.
