Bus Drivers Stage Strike Over Traffic Light System Issues

Bus drivers in Cyprus, members of OMEPEGE – SEK and SEGDAMELIN – PEO, have announced a two-hour work stoppage today, Friday, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and a protest rally in Solomou Square, Nicosia. The strike is taking place due to the lack of a substantial solution to the problems arising from the operation of the traffic light system and its impact on drivers. The unions had proposed the installation of warning systems for red lights to avoid sudden braking, which endangers passengers. It is noted that buses cannot be stopped abruptly due to their size and the possibility of passenger injury. The unions apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to the public.
