Khamenei Threatens to Sink US Aircraft Carrier in Persian Gulf

Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned today that the US aircraft carrier deployed in the Gulf could be sunk, as new indirect talks began between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland. Khamenei stated that Iran has the means to sink the American ship, emphasizing his country's ability to confront the United States. Khamenei also criticized former US President Donald Trump, saying he would not succeed in destroying Iran. He expressed reservations about the current negotiations, stressing that a predetermined outcome to the talks is wrong. He emphasized that the US seeks to dominate Iran. On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeel Baghaei said that the lifting of sanctions is an integral part of any agreement on the nuclear program. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there had been progress in the talks, noting that both sides had agreed on a set of guiding principles that could lead to a possible agreement. These talks are an attempt to prevent a potential military conflict between Iran and the United States, as well as to seek a diplomatic solution to the issue of Iran's nuclear program. The situation in the region remains tense, with Khamenei's statements adding to the tension.
