Trump Talks of Negotiations but Iran Denies

US President Donald Trump announced that "negotiations" had taken place with an Iranian official, postponing strikes he had threatened against Iran. Tehran denied any negotiations and announced new launches of ballistic missiles against Israel. The Israeli military reported at least four rocket barrages from Iran, while Saudi Arabia reported shooting down about twenty unmanned aerial vehicles. The president of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also denied any negotiations with the US, accusing it of spreading false news. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Trump believes it is possible to achieve the goals of the war through an agreement. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that he had received "messages" through "friendly countries" regarding an American request for negotiations, but denied any direct contact. According to reports, US officials may meet with an Iranian delegation in Pakistan. The White House spokesperson, Caroline Levit, did not deny the information about the possible meeting in Pakistan, but stressed that it cannot be taken for granted. Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif offered to contribute to restoring peace in the region.
