Trump 'Seriously Considering' F-35 Sale to Turkey Despite Israeli Objections

Published December 30, 2025, 09:27

Donald Trump stated he is 'seriously considering' selling F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, despite objections from Israel, during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Florida. The US had previously excluded Turkey from the F-35 program in 2019 and imposed sanctions due to the country's acquisition of Russian S-400 missile systems. However, Mr. Trump maintains a good personal relationship with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and expressed optimism that there would be no issues. The F-35 (Lockheed Martin) is the most technologically advanced fighter jet in the US arsenal, developed in collaboration with other NATO member states. Trump has previously agreed to sell the jets to the UAE and Saudi Arabia, linking the deals to political developments.
