Rubio Tones Down Rhetoric in Munich, But US Approach Remains Unchanged

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio attempted to present a more conciliatory message at the Munich Security Conference, in contrast to Vice President Jay D. Vance's speech last year. However, the core of US policy remains unchanged: Europe is portrayed as weak and is being urged to adapt to Trump's cultural revolution. Rubio avoided meeting with the Ukrainian president and chose to visit countries considered pro-Russian. The Trump administration continues to assert that Russia wants peace in Ukraine, while simultaneously pressuring Kyiv to accept Moscow's terms. Europe remains excluded from negotiations regarding Ukraine and Gaza, while also facing the need to reduce its dependence on the US. Nevertheless, Europeans appear to be acknowledging the difficult position they are in, in a world characterized by political "demolition".
