Vladimir Putin informed Donald Trump about the drone attack on his state residence in the Novgorod region, with the US President expressing shock and stating that the attack would affect US cooperation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian leader for international affairs, Trump expressed his surprise at the “crazy act” by Kyiv. The two leaders also discussed the talks between Washington and Kyiv in Florida, agreeing to continue the dialogue “in a very friendly manner.” Putin emphasized that Russia would respond to the attack, while stating that Moscow’s position in the negotiations on Ukraine would be revised. Trump reportedly expressed his satisfaction that the US did not provide Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, as he believes this could have led to an escalation of the conflict. Russia had reported that the attack was carried out with 91 drones, which were successfully intercepted by Russian air defense. Despite the attack, Russia does not intend to withdraw from negotiations, but will take this action into account when reviewing its position. Moscow has already determined the targets and time of retaliation, but no casualties or damage have been reported from the attack.
