Ο Παγκύπριος Σύνδεσμος Καρκινοπαθών και Φίλων (ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ) χαιρετίζει την ομόφωνη ψήφιση από την Ολομέλεια της Βουλής των Αντιπροσώπων σε νόμο του νομοσχεδίου για την Ανακουφιστική Φροντίδα, που όπως αναφέρει σηματοδοτεί μια ιδιαίτερα σημαντική τομή για το σύστημα υγείας στην Κύπρο.
Ο Σύνδεσμος προσθέτει ότι για πρώτη φορά θεσπίζεται ένα ολοκληρωμένο νομοθετικό πλαίσιο που διασφαλίζει την καθολική πρόσβαση όλων των πολιτών σε υπηρεσίες ανακουφιστικής φροντίδας, τόσο εντός όσο και εκτός νοσηλευτηρίων, καθώς και κατ’ οίκον.
Αναφέρει ακόμα ότι παράλληλα, ενδυναμώνει τα δικαιώματα των ασθενών και των οικογενειών τους και προωθεί μια διεπιστημονική προσέγγιση που περιλαμβάνει ιατρική, νοσηλευτική και ψυχοκοινωνική στήριξη, με σεβασμό στις ανάγκες και τις επιλογές του κάθε ασθενούς.
Σε δήλωσή του, ο Επιτελικός Διευθυντής & Διευθυντής Υπηρεσιών Στήριξης Ασθενών του ΠΑΣΥΚΑΦ, Αντώνης Τρύφωνος, ανέφερε ότι η ψήφιση του νόμου για την Ανακουφιστική Φροντίδα αποτελεί ένα καθοριστικό βήμα για τη χώρα και για όλους τους ανθρώπους που αντιμετωπίζουν σοβαρές ασθένειες.

PASYKAF Welcomes Passage of Palliative Care Law
The Pan Cypriot Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF) has welcomed the unanimous passage of the Palliative Care Bill by the House of Representatives. The association states that this law marks a particularly important turning point for the healthcare system in Cyprus. For the first time, a comprehensive legal framework is being established to ensure universal access to palliative care services for all citizens, both in hospitals and at home. PASYKAF added that the law empowers the rights of patients and their families and promotes an interdisciplinary approach that includes medical, nursing, and psychosocial support, respecting the needs and choices of each patient. The Executive Director & Patient Support Services Director of PASYKAF, Antonis Tryfonos, stated that the passage of the Palliative Care Law is a decisive step for the country and for all people facing serious illnesses. PASYKAF is expected to contribute to the implementation of the new law, offering its experience and expertise to provide quality palliative care services throughout Cyprus.
