PASYKAF Welcomes Approval of National Cancer Institute Bill

The Pan Cypriot Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF) has welcomed the Council of Ministers' decision to approve the bill for the establishment of the National Cancer Institute. The creation of the Institute is considered a significant step towards better coordination and holistic management of cancer-related issues in Cyprus. PASYKAF had proposed the creation of the Institute as early as 2016, and this need was included in the National Cancer Strategy of 2019. The Executive Director of PASYKAF, Nicolas Philippou, stated that the approval of the bill is a significant development for Cyprus and for all people facing cancer. The Institute is expected to contribute to better coordination of services, strengthening the national strategy, and ensuring higher quality care for patients. PASYKAF emphasizes the importance of proper organization and coordination of services, as the Association is in daily contact with patients and their families. It hopes that the procedures for the operation of the Institute will proceed quickly, so that the care and quality of life of people with cancer experience will be improved. The Association is committed to actively contributing to the creation and development of the National Cancer Institute, offering its experience and knowledge so that it becomes a reliable pillar for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research, and care of cancer in Cyprus.
