Scholz Rejects Nuclear Weapons for Germany

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has rejected the idea of Germany acquiring nuclear weapons, despite recent geopolitical developments and the discussion that has begun regarding the need to strengthen the country's deterrent capability. Scholz emphasized Germany's commitment to international treaties, such as the 1990 2+4 Agreement. However, he left open the possibility of using German fighter jets to deploy French or British nuclear weapons, a practice already in place with US nuclear weapons. Scholz has already begun talks with French President Macron to develop a joint European nuclear deterrence program.
