Iranian Foreign Minister in Geneva to Negotiate with US

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Geneva to begin new negotiations with the United States on Iran's nuclear program. The new “indirect” talks will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, after dialogue between Iran and the United States was restored in Oman in February. Araghchi will also meet with his counterparts from Switzerland and Oman, as well as the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi. From the US side, envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will participate. The negotiations come at a time of tension, following the suppression of the Iranian protest movement and threats of military intervention by the United States. Previous talks were interrupted in June due to the war between Iran and Israel. Iran wants to discuss only the nuclear program, while the US seeks to limit the ballistic missile program and support for regional armed groups.
