Documentary about Varosha to be Screened in Seville

The documentary “Varosha, the Enclosed City of Europe” will be screened in Seville, Spain, on February 4, 2026, as part of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The screening is part of a series of events that will take place between February 2-6, with the aim of promoting the history, culture and heritage of Cyprus. The events also include a photography exhibition on the flora of Cyprus, an art exhibition, a dinner with Cypriot cuisine and wines. The aim is to inform European employees of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission and the residents of Seville about Cyprus. The event will be honored by the presence of the Ambassador of Cyprus to Spain, the Consul of Cyprus in Seville, the Director of the JRC in Seville and the European Commissioner for the Environment, Oceans and Fisheries. The producer of the documentary, Tony Toumazis, will participate in a panel discussion after the screening. This initiative is a significant opportunity to highlight the issue of Varosha at European level and raise public awareness of the history and situation of the area.
