The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nicos Damianou, is in India to participate in the international summit “India AI Impact Summit 2026”, representing the President of the Republic, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The summit, held in New Delhi, brings together heads of state, country representatives and technology ecosystem executives. The Deputy Minister participated in a Ministerial Discussion on promoting reliable and secure Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems and strengthening international cooperation. As part of the Summit, he held meetings with government officials and representatives of international organizations, discussing the strengthening of Cyprus-India cooperation in the areas of technological development and innovation. The possibility of Cyprus joining the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) organization, an international initiative promoting the interconnection of innovation ecosystems, was also discussed. The summit is part of a broader effort to strengthen cooperation for the development and utilization of AI for the global economy and society. The Deputy Minister returns to Cyprus on February 20, 2026.
