Trade Unions Support Cyta's Modernization Plan

Cyta's trade unions expressed their full support for the Ministry of Finance's bill to modernize its regulatory framework, ahead of its discussion in Parliament. They believe that Cyprus is entitled to a public organization that evolves, competes fairly and generates benefits for society. The unions highlight Cyta's role as a national infrastructure provider and the need for it to be able to meet the modern needs of citizens and businesses, given the convergence of the telecommunications, energy and technology sectors. They emphasize that Cyta is entitled to equal treatment in the market, as private providers already have the opportunity to expand their activities. Particular emphasis is given to Cyta's intention to offer energy from renewable sources to population groups that currently do not have access, such as young couples, tenants and the elderly. They note that Cyta does not seek to replace other providers, but to supplement the market, adding solutions where there is a gap. Furthermore, they emphasize that Cyta remains a healthy, profitable and sustainable organization that reinvests its profits in infrastructure that strengthens the country's development. They highlight the international awards it has received for its technological superiority and the quality of its services.
