“All Services Must Take Responsibility” – Clear Message from Passiourtidis

AKEL MP Andreas Passiourtidis described the situation caused by the foot-and-mouth disease as unprecedented, with huge consequences for livestock farming and the economy. He stressed that thousands of animals are being culled and livestock farmers are being financially ruined, with shortages of basic products expected. Mr. Passiourtidis called for calm and seriousness in managing the crisis, emphasizing that all relevant services must also take responsibility if accountability is chosen. He also denounced a lack of coordination and protocols, stating that the Police arrived in the affected areas before the Veterinary Services. He underlined the priority of supporting livestock farmers and the need to examine the handling of the situation at the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture.
