New Round of Iran-US Talks in Geneva

Delegations from Iran and the United States began a second round of talks in Geneva today with the aim of averting a potential US military intervention. Tehran states that there is a “more realistic” approach from the US side regarding Iran’s nuclear program, while Trump states his intention to participate “indirectly” in the negotiations. At the same time, the Revolutionary Guard conducted military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz as a show of force. Washington, for its part, maintains military pressure in the region while Trump recalls that he maintains open military options. The talks are being mediated by Oman, and Tehran reaffirms its commitment to dialogue, with the aim of defending its rights and preventing unfair interference in the region.
