Youth and the Labour Market: The European Adaptation

Over 40 leaders of youth organizations from across Europe gathered in Limassol to discuss the future of education, skills, and entrepreneurship. The meeting, organized by JA Europe, one of the largest educational organizations in Europe, focused on adapting education to the needs of the labour market and preparing young people for future economic challenges. JA Europe's strategy for 2050 aims to reach 20 million young Europeans each year through structural changes in education. The choice of Cyprus as the venue for the meeting was strategic, due to the country's presidency of the Council of the European Union, which allowed for the connection of discussions on youth skills to the broader EU political context. The meeting was part of the organization's regular strategic cycle, with priorities being reviewed annually. Discussions focused on students participating in student enterprise programmes and the role of teachers, who are considered crucial for the success of the programmes. The European network of JA Europe serves as a coordination and exchange of experience space, allowing national organizations to share best practices and contribute to collective planning at the European level. This process ensures that the organization's overall strategy is aligned with local needs and challenges.
