N. Papadopoulos: Direct Democracy Has Not Denied My Post Regarding Candidates

The President of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, stated that Direct Democracy has not yet denied his reports regarding three of its candidates who have criminal cases. According to Mr. Papadopoulos, one of the candidates was arrested for drug trafficking in the occupied territories, another is being investigated for fraud, and a third is accused of defrauding investors in the stock market. Mr. Papadopoulos emphasized that the selection of candidates by each party is part of the political discussion, but stressed that candidates serve as role models for society and that it is important to know their background, especially in matters such as tackling crime and protecting citizens. He pointed out that the next Parliament will be called upon to address issues such as organized crime, drug trafficking and fraud, and that all parties, including Direct Democracy, must take a position on how they will address these issues. Mr. Papadopoulos stated that he has not yet received a letter from the Ministry of Interior requesting more information regarding his reports. This statement was made during a visit to the Agios Athanasios industrial area and TEPAK.
