Former Bishop of Paphos Remains in Metropolitan Building Despite Suspension

The former Bishop of Paphos, Tychikos, refuses to hand over the keys to the Metropolitan building despite the Holy Synod's decision to suspend him. According to reports, he continues to enter the building through the back door and use the facilities, including his room. This behavior is considered part of a strategy to challenge the Synod's decision in court. Despite the Supreme Court recently rejecting his request to appeal the suspension decision, Mr. Tychikos has again turned to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Church sources doubt that the Patriarchate will seriously consider the case, given that the Holy Synod's decision has already been validated. Mr. Tychikos appears to be seeking a new decision from the Patriarchate, even a negative one, in order to be able to appeal to the Supreme Court in a timely manner and challenge the Holy Synod's decision. This tactic raises questions about his true intentions. At the same time, Mr. Tychikos is strengthening his relationship with the Metropolitan of Limassol, Athanasios, who had supported him in both the case of his removal and the case of his suspension. Athanasios had opposed the decisions leading to Mr. Tychikos's penalty, indicating continued support.
