Mousiouttas: Goal to Bring Pension Reform Bill to Parliament

The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, stated that the goal is to submit the bills for pension reform to the new Parliament in June, with the aim of implementing the new system on January 1, 2027. This was announced after a two-hour session of the Labour Advisory Board. To achieve this goal, four sessions of the Board have been scheduled within March, starting on the 5th of the month, to examine the issue and attempt to reach consensus. Simultaneously, a roadmap for the second pillar of the pension system will be developed. The meeting also discussed the updated bill on minimum wage adequacy and the amending bill regarding the settlement of overdue debts to the Social Insurance Fund. In addition, it was reported that there will be a reduction in the actuarial reduction of 12%, depending on the criteria to be agreed upon. Minister Mousiouttas emphasized the importance of social dialogue and tripartite cooperation between the state, employers, and trade unions, as well as the need for informed and constructive views from social partners to co-create solutions that meet the needs of society and ensure maximum possible acceptance.
