Mousiouttas: Aim to Table First Pillar Bills in Parliament in Early June

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Marinos Mousiouttas announced that the aim is to table the bills for the first pillar of the pension reform in Parliament in June, so that the implementation of the new system can begin on January 1, 2027. This emerged from a meeting of the Labour Advisory Board. To promote the process, four sessions of the Board have been scheduled within March, with the aim of reaching consensus. At the same time, a roadmap for the second pillar will be drawn up and its general outline will be defined. The meeting also discussed the updated bill on the adequacy of minimum wages and the amending bill regarding the settlement of overdue debts to the Social Insurance Fund. The Minister stated that there will be a reduction in the actuarial reduction of 12%, depending on the criteria applied. He stressed the importance of social dialogue and the tripartite cooperation between the state, employers and trade unions, as well as the need to take informed and constructive views to ensure the acceptance of solutions.
