New Special Education Bill to End 27 Years of Stagnation

The bill for Special Education is in its final stage and will be put out for public consultation within weeks, ending 27 years of stagnation, according to the Minister of Education, Athena Michailidou. The Ministry has collected opinions from stakeholders, parents, educators, and organizations, aiming for a comprehensive reform. The Minister stressed that improving the education system for children with disabilities is a priority of the Government. The bill aims for a personalized approach, giving parents a role and shifting the emphasis to pedagogy. At the same time, the launch of training courses for teachers, parents, and escorts was announced, for the effective implementation of the new provisions.
