Minneapolis: Two ICE Agents Suspended for False Statements

Two ICE agents have been placed on administrative duty following allegations of false statements regarding a shooting involving a Venezuelan migrant in Minneapolis in January. Initially, authorities stated the agent fired in self-defense after being attacked with a snow shovel and broom by two individuals emerging from a nearby apartment. However, video evidence revealed that the agents seemingly made false statements in their testimonies. The prosecution against the migrant and his compatriot has been dropped as “new evidence contradicted the charges.” ICE has launched an internal investigation, as perjury is a serious federal crime. The incident occurred in a city that has become a target for mass arrests of undocumented immigrants by the Trump administration.
