The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is paying an official visit to Bahrain on January 25th and 26th, at the invitation of the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This visit is part of the government's strategy to strengthen relations with Gulf states, particularly Bahrain, at the political, economic, energy, cultural, and defense levels. During the visit, bilateral relations, regional and international developments, the Cyprus issue, and relations between the European Union and Bahrain will be discussed. President Christodoulides will also inform about the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency in the EU Council, with an emphasis on strengthening relations with the Middle East and the Gulf states. A key part of the visit will be the signing of eight Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding in areas such as education, culture, tourism, military cooperation, research, and rescue. This highlights the dynamic of the relationship and the desire of both sides to turn political dialogue into concrete collaborations. Furthermore, a Cyprus-Bahrain Business Forum will be held to strengthen economic and investment ties, and the President will visit Bahrain's state Sovereign Wealth Fund to discuss potential investments. The visit will culminate in the inauguration of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Manama, which will further enhance institutional cooperation capabilities.
