Meloni: Ban on Patriarch's Entry to Holy Sepulchre is an Insult

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the ban on the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem's entry to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, calling it an insult. Israeli police prevented Patriarch Pierbattista Pizzaballa from entering the church on Palm Sunday, sparking strong reactions. The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem described the incident as a serious precedent and a lack of respect for the faithful. Meloni emphasized that the Holy Sepulchre is a sacred site for Christians and must be protected for the performance of religious ceremonies. Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced he would seek explanations from the Israeli ambassador in Rome.
