The Central Bank of Cyprus has published data showing improvement in the banking sector. The Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio fell to 3.2% at the end of December 2025, compared to 4.5% in September of the same year. In addition, the NPL ratio, according to the methodology of the European Banking Authority, fell to 1.6%. This means that for the first time since 2014, the NPL ratio in Cyprus is lower than the European Union average, which was 1.8% in September 2025. At the same time, the coverage ratio of NPLs with loan loss provisions also decreased.
