State Secrets Protection Extended to Fund Donors, Parliament Denied Information

The Legal Service of Cyprus has rejected the Parliament's request to disclose the details of the donors to the First Lady's Fund, citing legal reasons and potential violations of EU law and personal data protection legislation. The Auditor General confirmed that he will not submit the names of the donors or the amounts of contributions. MP Andreas Pasourtidis criticized the decision, stating that the fund's donors appear to enjoy greater protection than state secrets. Simultaneously, the Parliament's Institutional Committee will review a request from the CYPE for additional expenses in a closed session.
